DKSA 13U Elite took home the gold in the Travel Ball USA World Series event in Dothan, Ala., on July 16-17. There were 10 teams in the event. Their first pool play was against Hard Knocks Prime 9, from Dothan, Ala., (won 8-7). The second-pool place was again the Breeze, from Gulf Breeze, Fla., (lost 2-1). Playoff round 1 was against Game On Magic, from Leesburg, Ga., (won 9-3). Playoff round 2 was a rematch against the number 1 seed Breeze (won 4-2). Championship game was against the Panhandle Pirates, from Gulf Breeze, Fla., (won 9-6).
This concluded DKSA's season, sporting a 29-14 record.
Over the course of the season, local resident Myron Mobley has contributed to DKSA's successful season by appearing in all 43 games. Offensively, Mobley's season stats include: batting avg. (.538), OBP (.656), 47 hits (34 singles, eight doubles, four triples, one home run), 31 RBIs, 57 runs, 25 walks, eight HBP and 44 stolen bases. Defensively, Mobley's season stats include: fielding percentage (0.920) – with a total of 107 putouts and eight assists, one double play and one triple play. As catcher, Mobley caught 73.2 innings, having 43 steal attempts against him with nine caught stolen. Mobley pitched mainly out of relief for a total of 11.2 innings, allowing seven hits, 10 earned runs, 13 strikeouts, and earning himself a 2-1 record.
Mobley has attended try-outs for the upcoming 14U season. Rosters have not been announced. DKSA will move on to their next season in September.
