The Florida Department of Health will be presenting “Let’s Talk: Rejection” at the Madison Public Library on Tuesday, July 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Health Educator Hank Thompson will be the guest speaker. The class is free for parents and mentors who wish to help their middle or high school-aged children deal with the sting of rejection.
Topics discussed during the class include understanding adolescents and how they mentally and emotionally process rejection; helping adolescents cope with negative feelings of rejection by fostering feelings of acceptance and belonging; making space for healthy risk taking; and methods to guide adolescents through rewarding prosocial experiences. The Florida Department of Health has a wide variety of resources and services available for this, and other topics that will be made available during this class. All attendees will receive a free gift.
The library is located at 378 NW College Loop, in Madison. For more information, call (850) 427-4036.
