On Wednesday, Mar. 8, the Madison Rotary Club heard from Joyce Dove, Director of the Rotary District 6940 Youth Camp in Quincy, Fl. Dove spoke about the operations and financial needs of the camp. Rotary Youth Camp of North Florida, Inc. has been supported since 1994 by the 52 Rotary clubs in the Big Bend area, including Madison's. The camp provides a week of free overnight camp for disabled children, who would not otherwise be able to have summer recreation. The campers are physically disabled, autistic, have Downs' Syndrome, or are on significant medication.

Currently, the camp is partnering with Tallahassee Community College's Workforce Development program to provide training to individuals with disabilities, which will result in a certificate demonstrating their competency as counselors.
Madison Rotary President Jennifer Johnson and Foundation Director Wayne Conger presented Dove with a check, on behalf of Madison Rotary, for $1,500. The camp costs approximately $150,000 annually to run, and is only made possible by charitable donations.
