On Friday, Oct. 1, Madison Used Books hosted three local authors as they introduced their new books. Elizabeth King, Meghan Agner and Kent Westberry spoke about the inspiration behind each of their books, and read from them.
Elizabeth King is the author of “Monkey's Best Friend” and many homeschooling books written for One King Homeschool. “Monkey's Best Friend” is a true story about King's youngest son and his best friend, a stuffed monkey. He and Monkey went everywhere and did everything together, until one day Monkey got lost at sea. The book goes on to tell the story about the adventures that were taken to find Monkey, or rather, one just like him. If you have a little one that loves their stuffed animal, this is the book for them.
Meghan Agner wrote “There's a Dinosaur in my Closet,” “What's Happening on the Granja” and more. The idea for “There's a Dinosaur in my Closet” came about after Agner was telling the story to her children during a car ride. They loved it so much that she decided to share it with other children as well. “What's Happening on the Granja” is an elementary level book, to help both children and adults learn Spanish by integrating simple Spanish words into English sentences.
Kent Westberry is the author of “I've Got a Song to Write” and “Jubal the Cat.” “I've Got a Song to Write” is Westberry's personal memoir of his experiences as a singer-songwriter. Jubal the Cat is a children's book based on a true story. This cute children's book is sure to give you a laugh, as it recollects on all the trouble and mischief that Jubal gets into.
