Marvin L. Doud, age 60, of Lee formerly of Castile, N.Y., died February 7, at the South George Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga. He was born March 26, 1954 in Warsaw, N.Y., son of the late Bernard F. Doud and Harlene Hughes Doud, of Castile. Marvin was an independent truck driver for many years. For several years, he and his wife, Linda owned and operated a gun supply and craft shop in Castile. In earlier years, he worked on many area farms. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and shooting and taught hunter’s safety courses. He also enjoyed camping at Letchworth State Park with his family and boating. He loved raising coon dogs and hunting with them and he loved snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle. Marvin was a country music fan and he enjoyed going to concerts with friends and family. He was a talented man who could build or fix almost anything and he was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends on their projects. Marvin was a member of the Lee Methodist Church in Lee, where he participated in the men’s choir. He was also a member of the local JC Riders Motorcycle Club CMA #1231 of Valdosta, Ga. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda Balcom Doud; his mother, Harlene (Jim McIlroy) Doud, of Castile; his daughters: Jennifer Doud, of Perry and Maureen (Joe) Szwaczkowski, of Perry; his grandchildren: Emily and Devon Szwaczkowski; his brothers: Carey “Doc” Doud, of Pike and Dennis (Judy) Doud, of Castile; nieces: Alicia (David) DiPasquale, Katelyn Doud, Sara (John) Eggleston; nephew, Justin Doud; a great-niece, Addison DiPasquale; and a great-nephew, Vincent DiPasquale. Friends called Saturday, February 14 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile, where Marvin’s funeral service was held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Castile at a later date.
