Mrs. Mary Jewel (Smith) Kelley, 91, of Madison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021.
Jewel was born on May 11, 1930, in Alma, Ga., to her parents, Joseph Burdett Smith and Louvenia Boatright Smith.
She was a homemaker with many talents. Her specialties were making chicken and rice for her family and church functions. She enjoyed sewing and loved making quilts for all of her grandchildren and her friends. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, in Madison.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Louvenia Smith; her husband, Buck; son, Clifford Jr.; grandson, Lee Dowdee; and son-in-law, Leon Dowdee; and two brothers and four sisters.
Jewel was survived by her son, Richard Kelley (Karen), of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and her daughters: Vickie Sherrard (Joe), of Madison, Fla.; and Diane Dowdee, of Ormond Beach; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Hopewell Baptist Church in Madison. Visitation will be one hour before service, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery, in Madison.
