Maurice “Reese” Thomas, age 61, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 at Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee.
He was born in Hahira, Ga., to Maurice and Lounelle Thomas. He moved to Lee, Fla., in 1979, from Valdosta, Ga.
He worked as an Environmental Technician for PGS and was Fire Chief
for the Lee Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a farmer and loved deer hunting, spending time with grands and loved being around people.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Thomas, of Lee; mother, Lounelle Lightsey, of Valdosta, Ga.; two sons: Chad Thomas (Stacey), of Ft. White, Fla. and Jamie Thomas (Stefanie), of Lee; three brothers: Ted Thomas, Eddie Thomas and Earl Thomas all of Valdosta, Ga.; three sisters: Neat Brown and Edwina Hiers, both of Valdosta, Ga., and Becky Webb of Lake Park, Ga.; and two grandchildren: Grayson Thomas and Paisley Thomas.
Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Maurice Jackson Thomas Sr; step-father, Lamar Lightsey; and son, Scott Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, at Lee Memorial Cemetery.
