Madison Creative Arts Academy (MCAA) Beta Club supports veterans as one of their many projects for the year. During the month of November, Beta club members encouraged students in all classes (5K - 8th) to make pictures, cards, and write letters to our veterans. The Beta Club forwarded these to the VA Medical Center in Lake City for Veterans Day. In addition to the cards and letters, the MCAA Beta Club students distributed over 300 green light bulbs to the student body to support the Green Light A Vet program. The bulbs are to be placed in homes and offices to show support throughout the country for our veterans. Over 6 million lights have been posted throughout the country according to www.greenlightavet.com
Green Light A Vet is a campaign established to promote visible national support for veterans by changing one light to green. According to the Green Light A Vet website, green is the color of hope, renewal and feelings of well-being. The simple gesture of changing one light to green creates a beacon of support, appreciation and a visible symbol of the commitment “to green light veterans” forward as valued members of the community.
