Andrea Krell has been hired to fill the position of assistant principal at Madison Creative Arts Academy (MCAA). She brings 14 years of teaching experience into this new opportunity. She has taught high school math, science, and career technology courses in three states – Texas, Louisiana and Florida. For the past four years, she has taught math, chemistry, physics, and power and energy at Madison County High School.
“One of the greatest experiences of my career was being named Madison County District Teacher of the Year in 2016,” said Krell. She just completed a year of professional development as part of the Teacher Lead Network, sponsored by the Florida Department of Education for Teacher of the Year from across the state. The training focused on increasing the leadership capacity of teachers to positively influence classrooms beyond their own.
Concerning her move to MCAA, “It was a difficult decision to leave my students and colleagues at MCHS, but I am excited about this new opportunity to serve at Madison Creative Arts Academy. I already began my new position there on July 1, and am grateful they have made me feel right at home in the Panther family,” said Krell.
“I believe God created me to be a teacher. I began with tutoring my classmates when I was in high school. In college, I served as a teaching assistant for professors in the Chemistry department. I realized that I love science, but I love sharing my love of science more. I am glad that I will still have an opportunity to work in the classroom while growing as a school leader,” she continued. “I want children to love learning.”
According to Krell, learning is a never-ending process. As a teacher and an administrator, she always wants to be working to improve her professional practice and expand her knowledge to share with her students and fellow teachers.
In addition to her teaching and school administrator positions, she is also a pastor’s wife and a mother (these can also be full-time jobs). Her husband, Gabe is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Madison. They have two children (both of whom attend MCAA). Katie is entering the seventh grade, and Carter is entering the third grade. Krell also serves the community through her involvement with the Junior Auxiliary of Madison.
