Prior to their final home game for the 2020 season on Thursday, Dec. 10, the team and coaches of the Madison Creative Arts Academy (MCAA) Panthers basketball team paid tribute to the eighth-grade students on the team and cheerleading squad. The Panthers were squaring off against the middle grade Hornets of Lafayette High School.
It was a tough night for the Panthers, as the Hornets went out to a fast 11-3 lead in the first quarter. The Hornets continued to expand their lead and by halftime, the Hornets held a 16-5 advantage. During the third period, the Panthers were able to trim the Hornets' lead, but still trailed, 22-18, at the end of three quarters. The Hornets continued to keep the Panthers at bay through the remainder of the contest and the Hornets prevailed with a 35-31 final score.
