Four student members of the Madison Creative Arts Academy (MCAA) Symphonic Band recently participated in the Florida Bandmasters Association District 3 Solo and Ensemble on Saturday, February 17th at Leon High School. All four received Superior ratings (the highest possible) on their solo performances.
Katie Krell performed "Dancing Song from Eight Russian Folk Songs, Op. 58" by Anatol Liadov on the alto saxophone and was accompanied by Mrs. Analine Hellman.
Joshua Watts performed "Winter Carousel" by Albert Bige on the baritone horn and was accompanied by Mr. Jay Hicks.
Merridy Archambault performed two solos: on Bells, "Onward Christian Soldiers" arranged by Michael Dreves and accompanied by Mr. Jay Hicks and on the snare drum, "Solo #3" from Alfred's Beginning Snare Drum Solos.
Lance Thigpen performed "Minuet" by Bach (arr. by Rasher) on the Alto Saxophone and was accompanied by Mrs. Analine Hellman.
