On Saturday, March 4, the Madison County High School (MCHS) Concert Band traveled to Leon High School, in Tallahassee, to participate in the 2023 FBA District 3 Concert Music Performance Assessment (MPA). As well as listening to several high school bands from the region, the ensemble performed three pieces of music: “The Brandenburg Gate,” “Sea Song Trilogy” with soloist Haley Glavich on the alto saxophone, and ending with “Lindbergh Variations,” featuring a trumpet solo from Anthony Schreiber.
The students received an overall “good” rating on their performance, although the director of bands at MCHS, Dany Artiga, told them before they took the stage that the progress they have made since first beginning to rehearse the songs in January is something to be proud of. On Facebook, Artiga said, “We will continue to climb towards our long term goals and I am excited for the future of the MCHS Band program.”
