Madison County High School's FFA had 17 members attend the 94th Florida FFA State Convention from June 14-17, which officially wrapped up the FFA year.
The Madison County High School's FFA students attended sessions to listen to guest speakers, state officer retiring addresses, and recognize the award winners. The FFA members listened to Nick Tokman, from the Deadliest Catch, on the first night, encouraging the FFA members to “Be Yourself” at the FFA State Convention. While at the FFA State Convention, MCHS FFA had seven members receive their State FFA Degree: Mackenzi Bochnia, Shelby Burt, Olivia Galbraith, Carter Gore, Bailey Hackle, Peyton Pierce, and Abby Ratliff. The State FFA Degree is the highest degree the state can award. Madison County High School's FFA also had two members serve as delegates voting for new state officers and making decisions on concerns for the state association.
Anna Ebberson and Caleb Raines attended and competed in the Agriscience Fair. Both FFA members placed third in their divisions. The FFA students also attended leadership workshops and activities, which helped them increase their communication skills and allowed them to grow as leaders. The FFA recognizes students’ hard work on their Supervised Agriculture Experiences (SAEs) in a variety of different categories. Ethan Bochnia (Nursery Operations) and Shelby Burt (Outdoor Recreation) were both finalists in their divisions, with Bochnia placing first in the Nursery Operations division. Bochnia will later compete at the national level. This FFA chapter has worked hard to foster SAEs in their members and was recognized with the State SAE Award. The 2022-2023 FFA officers were part of the members that attended the Florida FFA State Convention. The MCHS FFA officers participated in an escape room as their first challenge as a team to prepare themselves to serve their fellow MCHS FFA members.
Madison County High School's FFA would like to thank all who have supported them throughout the year, helping them succeed and creating the best opportunities for students.
