On Friday, Sept. 3, community members, colleges and businesses came together at Madison County High School (MCHS) to educate students on the many college and career possibilities awaiting them after graduation. Emcee and Boyz to Kings Executive Director, Marvin “Merv” Mattair, spoke to students during an opening assembly, reminding them of the importance of hard work and dedication. He then introduced each guest and students were dismissed to begin exploring college and career booths. Students were all smiles as they learned valuable information, networked and gained a clearer understanding of their future goals.
“[MCHS] would like to give a big thank you to the event speaker, Mr. Jaleel Lee, (a graduate from MCHS) for the inspiring words you offered to our students,” said Christy Roebuck. “Thank you to the IMPACT Team: Merv Mattair, Tamara Johnson, Chastity McCarthy and Johnna Burroughs, for providing this great opportunity to the students. Thank you to the career vendors and colleges/universities that attended today’s event. Thank you to everyone who took the time to be here today to assist students with their future goals.”
