On Saturday, Jan. 27, Madison County High School (MCHS) honored a very special group of seniors as they played their last game in
theMCHS gymnasium. The Cowgirls sent the seniors out in style with a commanding 52-42 victory over the Lady Bulldogs of Suwannee County High School. The game started as a defensive struggle as both teams found it difficult to score. The opening period ended withthe teams tied at just five points each. During the second quarter, the Cowgirls opened their lead, and the score was 20-12 at halftime, with the Cowgirls ahead. In the second half, the Cowgirls solidified their position and cruised to a 52-42 final score.
Jamya Plummer led the Cowgirls in scoring with 14 points. Lasage Ferguson added nine points and six rebounds for the Cowgirls. Brittany Kinsey made the most of her final home game at MCHS by hitting two three-point shots for her six points for the evening.
The Cowgirls finished their regular season with a 12-11 record. The girls' district tournament will take place Monday, Feb. 5 through Saturday, Feb. 10, at Hamilton County High School, in Jasper.
