The Madison County High School Varsity baseball team traveled to Live Oak Tuesday afternoon to play Hamilton County in a preseason tournament game.
The Cowboys were winners with a final score of 10-6. They were powered on offense by multiple contributors. Jacob Johnson led the way with a three-run homer. Dillon Burns, Steven Walden and Devarion Edwards also contributed RBI doubles in the game. Other contributors on offense were Alex Tyson with a double and Dustin Bass with a pair of runs scored. The win on the mound was a group effort, with pitching performances by Dylan Bass, Drew Herring, Drew Annett and Gabe Miller. The win went to Drew Herring while the save went to Gabe Miller.
The Cowboys played extremely well from top to bottom and got their season off to a great start.
The next game was held on Friday, Feb. 5; the game was originally scheduled for Feb. 4 but, due to inclement weather the game was moved. The Cowboys faced off against Suwannee in an away pre-season game at 7 p.m.
Burns, Walden and Bass drove in runs for their team. Although the Cowboys played hard, they lost to Suwannee with a final score of 7-4, a close defeat.
