The warmer, sunny days over the past couple of weeks can only mean one thing to any sports fan.... baseball season is right around the corner. For the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowboys varsity team, the baseball season will get underway with a double header on Saturday, Feb. 18 in Thomasville, Ga. In the first game of that double-header the Cowboys will take on Upson-Lee from Thomasville, Ga. The first pitch of that game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. In the second game of that double-header, the Cowboys will face Fannin County High School, from Blue Ridge, Ga. The second game will begin at 4 p.m. The Cowboys will travel to Live Oak to face Suwannee County High School on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. The Cowboys will travel back across the state line to take on Brooks County, in Quitman, Ga. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, Mar. 2, the Cowboys will take on the Lions of Leon High School, in Tallahassee, at 5 p.m. Then on Tuesday, Mar. 7, the Cowboys begin district play when they take on Lafayette High School, in Mayo, at 7 p.m. The Cowboys finally have their first home game of the season on Thursday, Mar. 9, when they once again face the Bulldogs of Suwannee County High School. The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Cowboys are hoping to improve on last year's 19-7 record. The Cowboys came up short in that region semi-final game by a score of 7-5 at the hands of Newberry High School.
