Maj. Epp Richardson, with the Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), has been recognized with Volunteer of the Year honors from the local mentoring program, Boyz to Kings (BTK). According to BTK founder Merv Mattair, Maj. Richardson was assigned to be the fiscal agent for BTK when the program connected with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in 2019. Since that time, Maj. Richardson has worked closely with the program to help ensure all documents and funding is proper and in order.
“[Maj. Richardson] has attended events [and] sat in on conference calls, [but] the biggest contribution from [Maj. Richardson] is his communication skills,” said Mattair. “There is never a bad time to get a question answered. He returns calls, text messages, etc. Just working with this man makes my job of serving these youth and families much easier.” Mattair also noted that Maj. Richardson has refused to accept any kind of payment, stating that he “wanted to do all he could to see that this great organization continues to make an impact on our community and the lives of young men and families.”
“Someone with this much passion to see our prevention organization thrive deserves to be recognized on a stage for others to see what volunteering looks like,” added Mattair.
