Debbi Roessler Rye was born on Aug. 6, 1989, in Fort Myers, Fla.; however, she is currently a resident of Madison, and has been a Madison citizen for 30 years.
Rye attended Madison County High School and graduated in 2007. At this time, she also dual enrolled at North Florida Community College and obtained an AA degree. In December 2010, she obtained her associate's degree in Nursing. Rye worked as an ICU nurse full-time while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Thomas University in Thomasville, Ga. In December 2014, she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Al. with her master’s degree in nursing as a primary care nurse practitioner with certification in adult/gerontology in 2015.
Today, Rye works at North Florida Medical Center (NFMC)-Mayo, in Lafayette County. She has worked there for seven years as a nurse practitioner. Rye’s decision to enter the field of medicine became apparent when an attending physician in an intensive care unit saved her sister’s life, who had Down Syndrome. “I knew right then and there- at that given moment, I wanted to be just like that physician-calling the shots and saving lives,” Rye said.
In her career, Rye’s overall goal has always been to prevent disease and improve quality of life. Her favorite part about her job is having the ability to truly impact a person’s life by practicing evidence-based medicine.
