Greene Publishing, Inc. has recently hired a new writer, Halie Wetherington, to join the reporting team. She is the daughter of Sam and Michelle Wetherington, and was born and raised in Madison. She recently graduated from Madison County High School (MCHS) as valedictorian with a GPA of 4.6, and graduated North Florida College with her Associate's of Arts degree. Halie is working for the summer before attending the University of West Florida on a softball scholarship. There, she will major in environmental science, in hopes of one day writing for National Geographic or pursuing some other job in that field.
Halie is a pitcher and utility player for Jacksonville Storm, her travel softball team. She also played softball and volleyball for MCHS. Her freshman year, she was a part of the MCHS softball team that made it to the Final Four in state play. Some of her accomplishments include: earning a blue ribbon in microbiology at the State Science Fair, being in Beta Club, National Honors Society and National Society of High School Scholars, along with other clubs. Recently, she was recognized as a Sunshine State Scholar and was one of 15 students to receive a scholarship at the event. Outside of school and sports, Halie enjoys reading and writing and attends First Baptist Church of Madison.
We are excited to welcome Halie to our staff!
