After hearing of all of the health benefits of micro-greens, Melvin Wynn decided to give them a try. After just a short while, Wynn began feeling much better, with a surge of energy that was remarkable.
Micro-greens are simply vegetables that are watered frequently until the seeds crack and the plants rise in height between two to three inches. Plants are harvested this early because the nutrition level is much higher than when they reach maturity. Some vegetables have 40 times the nutrient level when harvested soon after sprouting.
Wynn was so excited about the health benefits of micro-greens that he began growing trays of a variety of vegetables that only take a few weeks to grow before harvesting. Included on the long list of vegetables that Wynn has grown are: broccoli, cabbage, beets, sunflowers, wheat grass, mustard greens, radish, English peas and others. Though micro-greens are more expensive than their full-grown counterparts, the health benefits may be worth the extra costs. Wynn stated that his blood pressure has returned to normal, without the use of medication, since adding the greens to his diet. The additional costs are a result of the number of seeds required to grow them.
Micro-greens have a distinctive flavor that make them the perfect addition to salads, sandwiches, omelets and soups. They also make a nice snack all by themselves. Wynn now sells the greens which are completely organic. Wynn only grows what is needed to fill orders, so there is a 10 to 12 day time frame before orders are available.
