Monday, May 25, marks Memorial Day 2015, a day set aside to honor those who died while serving in The United States Armed Forces. The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate Union and Confederate soldiers who died in battle. In present times, Memorial Day has been extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service. Please join the Madison community in celebrating the lives and heritage of our fallen heroes during a special Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. this Monday, May 25, in Four Freedoms Park in downtown Madison. There will be presentations, special music and fellowship in remembrance of deceased military veterans and their families.
