Minnie Lee Bass Newborn, 83, of Madison, Fla., passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Minnie Lee was born on January 17, 1937 to the late Jessie and Minnie Bass of the Cherry Lake area.
Minnie Lee was married to the late Enoch Newborn for 48 wonderful years.
She is survived by two daughters: Sharon Shadrick (Allen), and Darlene Buchanan (Leroy); eight grandchildren: Steven Deming (Heather), Jeremy Deming (Tina), Josh Smith (Maria), Cassey Andrews (Matthew), Ryan Shadrick (Jen), Matthew Buchanan (Brittany), Tyler Shadrick (Emily) and Rebekah Buchanan; ten great-grandchildren: Shawn, Layla, Aurora Christopher, Cheyenne, Noah, Gabriel, Eli, Kaden and Landon; three brothers: Ellis Bass, Charles Bass and Jerry Bass (Christine); one sister; Fannie Mae Purvis; two sister-in-laws: Helen Hart and Frances Gottuso. Aunt Minnie Lee is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were: her husband Enoch Newborn; her brother Russel Bass and his wife Lucille; her sister Nita Taylor and husband Donald; her sister-in-law: Gladys Bass; her brother-in-laws: George (Shorty) Purvis, Joe Hart and Nick Gottuso; and her mother-in-law: Vicy Hart.
Minnie Lee was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She especially loved her role as Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Minnie Lee worked many years up to her retirement in 2001, retiring from Madison Primary School where she served as a paraprofessional. Mrs. Minnie Lee loved all of her children.
She was a loving and devoted member of Faith Baptist Church for many years, faithfully serving in many roles. Minnie Lee especially loved serving in WMU as director, and as Church Hostess, where she ministered in the service of food preparations for many church meetings and many meals for families whom had lost loved ones.
Funeral services were held at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, with visitation at 1 p.m. and the service at 3 p.m. Internment followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery, in Madison.
