Minnie Pearl Wiggins-Payne, 81, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, in Greenville, Fla. Minnie was born March 17, 1941, in Jennings, Fla. to Bivins Blackston Meeks and Eunice Green Meeks.
Minnie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, granny and great granny. Those who knew Minnie Pearl knew it was gonna be her way or not at all. She was always on the go, whether it be with the church and its functions or hosting AVON get-togethers. She was a generous woman, who would give the shirt off her back if it would help someone in need, or bring you home and feed you and give you a place to rest. She never met a stranger and could talk up a storm.
Minnie Pearl was preceded in death by her husbands: James David Williams, Russell P. Wiggins, Sr. and J.T. Payne, her parents Bivins and Eunice Meeks; her sons; Jessie James Williams and Christopher T. Williams; her granddaughter; Rebecca Ann Carter; her brothers; Jim Meeks and Alex Meeks; and her sister; Audis Kinard.
Minnie Pearl is survived by her children: Julie (Alan) Carter, Cindy (Earl) Smith-Seago, Paula (Tim) Hall, Russell P. (Debra) Wiggins, Jr.; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Madison, with Rev. Tim Blanton officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward in Cherry Lake Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home.
