Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) deputies, investigators and other agencies are diligently searching for a five-year-old Madison girl who was reported missing at 1:59 a.m. on Monday, July 13. Naomi Rose Herring (date of birth: April 11, 2015) stands three feet tall and weighs 35 pounds. Naomi has brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair and was last seen wearing a black and yellow bumble bee dress and blue shorts.
MCSO's Major David Harper reports that deputies were dispatched to the Deerwood Inn, located at 155 St. Augustine Rd., in Madison, near the I-10/SR 53 interchange in the early morning hours of Monday, July 13, in response to a report of a missing child. Upon arrival, deputies were informed that five-year-old Naomi Herring was last seen asleep in one of the motel rooms at approximately 12:30 a.m. Another child was said to be in the care of an adult male.
At 1:40 a.m., the mother returned to the room and found the motel room door to be closed, but unlocked. Upon entering the room, Naomi was not inside.
The surrounding area is currently being searched by multiple deputies, along with the head of the Madison Correctional Institution K9 unit. Also, the Leon County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit is currently being utilized.
MCSO reports that the investigation into the disappearance of Naomi, along with search efforts, remains very active. Anyone with information regarding the possible whereabouts of Naomi is urged to call 911 or MCSO immediately at (850) 973-4001, ext. 1
