Brother Bobbie Gene Smith was born to Mary Williams Smith and Dock Smith on Sept. 18, 1945 in the Lovett community (Greenville) of Madison County. He resided in the county his entire life.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Freddie Smith and Johnny Smith; and son, Brian Eugene Smith.
Graveside celebration of life services, with COVID-19 restrictions, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, on the lawn of Oakrige II Cemetery, in Madison. A public viewing and visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021, in the chapel of Tillman of Madison, ~A Hall-Moore Provider~, (850) 973-6677, 379 W. Base Street, in Madison.
Bobbie was loving, kind-hearted and was willing to help whomever he could. Having grown up in a large family, he learned a work ethic, to be helpful and to share. These qualities helped him to become a better person as a result.
During his career, he worked at Florida Plywood, in Greenville; Dixie Packers, in Madison; as well as the timber industry. Bobbie was accustomed to country living. He spent his time away from the job gardening fresh vegetables and being an outdoorsman for enjoyment.
Brother Smith was also affiliated with Sweethome Lodge #67 of the Masonic Order of Free and Accepted Masons.
Brother Bobbie Gene Smith professed his belief in God and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior during the early years of his life. He became a member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, in the Lovett community. After its closure, Bobbie occasionally visited other churches.
Brother Bobbie closed his life journey on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in Valdosta, Ga. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife of 37 years, Mamie Lee Mobley Smith; daughter, Keicha Mobley Gates, of Valdosta, Ga.; siblings: Billie (Virginie) Smith, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Smith, Rene Smith and Vivian (Clarence) Bess, all of Tampa, Fla., Annette (Robert) Johnson and Verdene Smith, all of Madison, Fla., Aaron (Margo) Smith, of Charlotte, N.C. and Jimmy Smith, Sr., of Greenville, Fla.; aunts, Juanita Mincey and Ellen Roberts; sister-in-law, Geanetha Reed of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers-in-law, David (Christine) Mobley and Clarence (Margie) Mobley, both of Madison; along with many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
