“If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain.”
Mr. Eddie Lee Oglesby, 69, the son of John Wainwright and Mamie Oglesby, was born on June 5, 1953 in Perry, Fla. He grew up in the Taylor County community until he became a young man who established new residency in his beloved Miami, Fla. However, many years later, he relocated to his hometown. He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Dennis Horace Oglesby; and his granddaughter, Olivia Hampton.

Eddie believed in God and let his life reflect his love for Him. He knew that to live was to also have hope, and he was determined to not only live life to its fullest, but to also make an impact on those whose lives he encountered. He was compassionate; his concern for others included heartfelt gestures such as offering his encouragement as well as his support. Likewise, he never gave a second thought about providing food and/or a financial hand up to those in need.
He was good natured, pleasant and a joy to be around. He loved his family but had a special bond with his children and grandchildren. He made certain they did not lack the essential things they needed.
Eddie was very talented. He used his gift for singing, dancing and even writing melodies and recording some of them. He had a special fondness for shopping, he could dress to impress, always making a fashion statement in his trendy attire. Likewise, he was a sports fan who was enthusiastically attracted to watching and enjoying all types of sports.
Eddie was employed for many years by Anderson and Columbia Concrete Company.
Although he loved life itself, Eddie Lee Oglesby bowed in humble submission to the will of the Heavenly Father who makes no mistakes. He peacefully closed his eyes and entered eternal glory on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022.
