Born on March 5, 1961, to Chandler Williams, Sr. and Annie Ree Williams was their precious baby boy, James Oris Williams, who brought much joy into their lives. He was a lifelong resident of Madison. His parents, together with his brother: Willie Chandler Williams, Sr., and sister: Mary Williams, all preceded him in death.
Celebration of Life Services, with COVID-19 restrictions, will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021, on the lawn of Oakridge No.2 Cemetery, 1376 SW CR 360, Madison. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, in the chapel of J.P. Moore Mortuary, 379 W. Base Street, Madison, (850) 973-6677.
During the early years of his life, James was affectionately called “Shorty”, a name that he answered to for the rest of his life. He was a family man who unconditionally loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
James Oris accepted Christ as his Redeemer early in life and lived by the Golden Rule --“Do unto others as you will have them do unto you”.
One of Shorty’s employment talents was auto mechanics; he was employed at Coleburns Auto and later at Pilgrim’s Pride. He was also a skilled presser who always satisfied the customers at Ida Bell’s Cleaners, on Orange Street as well as at Madison Cleaners.
He used his time away from his job(s) watching Lifetime movies and countless great westerns from the past.
Having answered the Master’s call, James Oris Williams departed this life and transitioned to his eternal home on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021.
He left a legacy that will forever be embedded in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Forever cherishing Shorty in their lives are his sons: James Williams, of Madison; Bryan Williams of Tallahassee, and Bryce Swilley, of Warner Robins, Ga; daughters: Annie Ree Williams of Madison, and Tiffany (Wallace) Montina and Jamie Williams, all of Jacksonville, Fla; nephew raised as a son: Willie (Salina) Williams, of Madison; and nieces raised as daughters: April Williams and Charece Williams, all of Madison; brothers: Joe (Dawn) Collins of San Antonio, Texas, Steve (Felicia) Collins, of Jackson, Tenn., Chandler Williams, of Miami, Fla., Richard Hill, of Tampa, Fla., Antonio (Vanessa) Williams of Tampa, Fla.; sisters: Yolanda Denson of Madison, Mary (Eric) Harvey, Vivian (James) Miller of Tallahassee, Fla., Glendale Moore, of Greenville, Fla., Sheri (Anthony) McGhee and Glenda Jones, both of Madison, Ovedia Davenport, of Michigan; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
