For him, living his best life began with his retirement and his appreciation of peaceful rural living because it gave him opportunities for fishing trips and spending uninterrupted time with his beloved family. He held a very soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren and always welcomed their visits. He also looked forward to watching some of his favorite television shows from the past, which included a variety of westerns – Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Big Valley, The Rifleman, Walker, Texas Ranger, as well as western movies.
