Solve the crime and you could win a prize when murder takes center stage at the Main Street Playhouse and Event Center in downtown Madison. Join the RATT pact for an evening of fun and mayhem as the seasoned performers bring you an audience participation, interactive murder mystery dinner theater. The action begins on Thursday, Oct. 20 and continues until Saturday, Oct. 22.
Suspicion abounds when publishing magnate and family patriarch Artemus Ward is stabbed at the dinner table right in front of his guests. When suspects are narrowed down from five to seven, the fun begins as fingers are pointed and accusations fly among the remaining family members and acquaintances. Could the culprit be Reginald, Ward’s son who stands to inherit a sizable fortune, or Alexis, Ward’s daughter who constantly recites Emily Dickinson and lives in her own little world. Of course, there is Bernie, Ward’s nephew, who never felt worthy of asking his uncle for help, and Jeannie, whose fate as restaurant owner lies in the hands of Artemus Ward. Enter Eileen, Ward’s attorney, who has more than a marginal interest in his untimely demise, a bumbling reporter with secrets of his own, and a ditzy coroner who just happens to be close by with toolbox in hand. As the mystery and fun unfold, the audience will be involved in gathering clues and solving the crime. A nice prize will be awarded to one super sleuth each night.
Local talent make up the cast of this fun and fast-paced show. New to the Playhouse stage are Kyley Thompson (Dr. Bullfinger, the coroner), Logan Dorsey (Jeannie Dell, restaurant owner), and Josh Dorsey (Ward’s nephew Bernie). Returning veterans to the stage include Jessica Webb (Ward’s daughter Alexis), Tim Dunn (Ward’s son Reginald), Dawn Renner (Eileen the attorney), and Bob Weiland (newspaper reporter). Justin Webb directs the show and Melana Webb works backstage.
