Perry native Mykayla Ware has always dreamed of being a police officer. Her respect for authority and love of helping others fueled her passion for the job throughout her adulthood as well. After speaking with North Florida College’s Director of Public Service Academy Rick Davis in 2020 , Ware knew it was time to pursue her dream.
After taking a break from her classes to have a baby, Ware took her final law enforcement certification exam in March, clearing the path for beginning a promising career in law enforcement. She joined the Madison Police Department on Thursday, May 4, and she has enjoyed her early days on the job. “So far, so good,” said Ware, whose kind demeanor is certain to be an asset on the job. While serving as a police officer, Ware plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice. “I look forward to building relationships in this community,” said Ware, whose long-term goals include serving with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
