Myrtle Morse Wallace, 84, passed away on Aug. 8, 2021, in Pinetta, Fla. Myrtle was born on Oct. 5, 1936, in Pinetta, to Edward Allen Morse and Clara High Morse.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Pinetta United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist for numerous years. She is a 1954 graduate of Madison High School and Valdosta State College where she completed a two year degree in Secretarial Science. Myrtle worked with General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) as a Finance Officer for approximately 30 years. After retiring in 1988, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. She was a Charter Member of the Madison County, Florida Genealogical Society and National President of the 42nd Rainbow Division Auxiliary from 1991 to 1992. Myrtle volunteered at Elmer’s Genealogy Library and the Brown Bag Program of the United Methodist Cooperative Ministries. She enjoyed genealogy research and reading in her spare time.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ivan Homer Wallace, Jr.; her parents, Edward Allen Morse and Clara High Morse; her sister, Mildred Bishop; and her brother, Edward Merton Morse.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas A. Morse; her step son, Ivan H. Wallace III (Sharron); her step grandson, Keith Wallace (Jeanne); her step-great grandchildren, Madison and Benjamin Wallace; as a well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at Pinetta United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Blanton and Rev. Michael Halley officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery. The family received friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Pinetta United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to your favorite charity. All arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
