Nancy Cooksey Scarboro, 64, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, in Tallahassee, Fla. Nancy was born August 11, 1957, in Monticello, Fla., to Robert Fred Cooksey and Florence Akridge Cooksey.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church. Nancy worked as a secretary with the Jefferson County Extension Office for 38 years. She enjoyed traveling and loved visiting the mountains, cooking and sewing during her spare time. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with her family, most of all.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Fred Cooksey and Nancy Florence Akridge Cooksey.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jamie Scarboro; her children, JR Scarboro (Kalyn) and Katelyn King (Kyle); her siblings, Norma Eleazer and Mary Cooksey; her grandchildren: Mason Scarboro, Kolton King and Kenley King; her father in-law Ronnie Scarboro; as a well as a host of nieces and nephew.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Burns Funeral Home of Madison with Pastor Bryant Thigpen and Rev. Cherryl Cruce officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be to a charity of your choice. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
