Bodyworks Family Fitness 24 hour gym, located at 717 E Base St., held its grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 8. The event was a big success, as the gym exceeded its goal for new memberships. The owners of Bodyworks Family Fitness: Kesley Allen and Jamel Watkins, have three more gym locations in Valdosta, Ga., Lake Park, Ga., and Albany, Ga. Bodyworks Family Fitness has been in business for four years, with the Valdosta location being the first to open. Jamal Thornton, a personal trainer at the Valdosta location, and now Madison, was the one who originally gave Allen and Watkins the idea to bring their business into Madison. Just before the pandemic started around two years ago, they decided to move forward with the idea and began looking for some spaces, but nothing seemed to meet their needs. They soon found the space where Aaron's was once located and decided that was the one. Allen and Watkins worked tirelessly to prepare the gym for its grand opening, working many late nights transporting and bringing gym equipment in, setting up the saunas and preparing the tanning bed. Bodyworks Family Fitness is officially open for business, and individuals considering membership can stop in for a tour or sign up during office hours, which are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The gym offers general memberships for $34.99 a month, family memberships for $54.99 a month, and discounted memberships for all Madison County teachers, EMT, Police, First Responders, Cowboys Booster Clubs, and college and high school students. Bodyworks Family Fitness also offers add-on services such as tanning and saunas. As a courtesy to parents who enjoy working out, the gym offers a child play center. For more information, visit the gym at 717 E Base St., in Madison, or give them a call at (850) 973-2225.
