New Testament Christian School (NTCS) held their annual awards banquet for their basketball teams on Friday, April 14. The banquet was held in the New Testament Christian Center fellowship hall.
Coaches Justin and Nicole Kinsey were eager to recognize the 2016-17 NTCS Saints JV and varsity players for both the boys and girls teams. They were quick to acknowledge that every player contributed a unique talent in making each team the cohesive unit it was.
For the junior varsity Lady Saints, Amelia Riegsecker was named the Rookie of the Year. Jermerial Ross received the Sixth Man Award. The Post Player of the Year was awarded to Savanna Pitts. The Coach’s Choice Award was given to Caitlyn Jordan, and the MVP was Kristen McClune.
The young men of the JV Saints team also received awards for their performance and talents. Jayce Johnson received the Rookie of the Year Award. The Most Improved Player was Dalton Cochran. Josiah Hanks was recognized with the Sixth Man Award. The Defensive Player of the Year was Gabe Pitts. Matthew Reader’s positive attitude and constant encouragement to his teammates was rewarded with the Coach’s Choice Award. Jonathan Kinsey and Gabriel Kervin shared the spot as the Saints’ MVP.
There was not a boys’ varsity team this year.
The Lady Saints varsity team was the final team of the night to receive recognition. Defensive Player of the Year went to Lexie Reyna. Sarah Green earned the title of Post Player of the Year. The Sixth Man Award was presented to Erin Taylor. Anslie Creech and Leanna Kinsey shared the honor of team MVP.
The final award of the night went to graduating senior, Kaitlyn Kinsey. Kinsey was named the Offensive Player of the Year. In addition to her trophy, she received her jersey, which was signed by all of her teammates and nicely framed.
The school administration was quick to acknowledge, with gratitude, the service of Coaches Justin and Nicole Kinsey. Their dedication to the students is appreciated by all of the school family.
Before the evening concluded, the coaches acknowledged, the support of all the parents and teachers who helped with concessions, ticket collection, transportation, record-keeping, photography, and the many other tasks required to maintain a school athletic program.
