The North Florida Community College (NFCC) Artist Series presents the Sarah Mac Band on Tuesday, Oct. 17 in the Van H. Priest Auditorium at 7 p.m. This well-known Tallahassee based trio is bringing bluesy, jazzy rock with a healthy dose of soul to the NFCC campus for a fun evening of live music. Sarah Mac, Claire and Charlie have amassed an impressive reputation for their engaging combination of blues, jazz and acoustic rock. Sarah’s voice has the full power and grit of Janis Joplin, the sweet, soothing breathy tone of Feist or Edie Brickell, and the gut-wrenching raw tones of an old soul or gospel singer. Paired with Charlie’s intricate, sultry guitar work and Claire’s solid, intriguing bass lines, this trio leaves you wanting to hear more.
The trio had been playing together for several years when they finally decided to officially name themselves the Sarah Mac Band and start booking shows in March of 2005. Since then, they have been traveling extensively in the South East and Midwest United States, and have built an impressive resume including performances at South by Southwest, Suwannee Springfest, and countless regional festivals; sharing the stage with artists such as Shawn Colvin, Anders Osborne, Shawn Mullins, and The Oh Hellos. They have released four full-length studio albums, two full-length live albums, and two EPs. Their most recent album 'Florida' (Fall 2015) was recorded at Monastery Studio in Cincinnati, Ohio.
