North Florida Community College is proud to announce that NFCC’s Community Theatre group, the NFCC Sentinel Upstage Players, recently underwent state adjudication by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Theatre Division and received a ranking of “Good” for their March 28 performance of “Four Sons,” an original production written, directed and produced entirely by the NFCC troupe. For the first time in over fifteen years the NFCC Sentinel Upstage Players opened themselves up to state adjudication in which they were evaluated on the directing, technical elements and acting presented throughout the performance. The cast received high praises and constructive critiques in all three criteria. “This was a great ensemble cast that worked well together and made the evening worthwhile” stated the adjudicator. “I applaud NFCC for the creation of a new play and hope they continue in this tradition.” In addition, the NFCC Sentinel Upstage Players were also bestowed the honor of the FCSAA “New Play Award” which is awarded to recognize the work of and encourage the creation of new scripts in the college production world. “Our mission for Community Theatre has always been to foster, educate and inspire involvement and personal growth within the performing arts,” said NFCC Community Theatre Director Denise Bell. “After fifteen years since our last adjudication, the only thing that compares to the pride I have for their outstanding accomplishments as an ensemble, is knowing that the FCSAA has once again brought an opportunity to learn and grow as performers to the NFCC Sentinel Upstage Players.” The NFCC Sentinel Upstage Players will wrap up their 2014-2015 season with their production of “Aladdin” Saturday, June 13 at Van H. Priest Auditorium. Two show times are planned– a 2 p.m. matinee and an evening performance beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are just $6 and on sale now in the NFCC College Advancement Office (Bldg. 32, NFCC campus). Tickets will also be available at the door June 13 at Van H. Priest Auditorium an hour in advance of each showing.
