The North Florida Community College Fitness Center invites the public to participate in its 2016 Sentinel Slim Down challenge. This year’s Sentinel Slim Down is an eight-week weight loss contest open to anyone – NFCC students, NFCC employees and community members. The contest ends March 4.
To enter, contestants pay an entry fee due at the first weigh in: $20 for Fitness Center Members and Non-Members; $5 for NFCC Students. The participant who loses the most weight during the eight-week span will be selected as the overall winner and receive 25 percent of the entry fees collected. A portion of the money raised will be donated to Relay for Life.
Those wishing to join the contest can stop by anytime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and should check in at the Fitness Center front desk to enroll and get started. Contestants will then weigh-in every week on Friday at the Fitness Center. A $1 penalty will be assessed for each pound gained from week to week. Weekly prizes will be given to the contestant with the highest percentage of weight lost with the overall winner taking 25 percent of the total entry fees collected.
Each contestant will receive a rulebook with tracking logs and program rules.
