Alvin Eddins, 77, lost his battle with cancer on October 19, in Madison, Fl. Alvin was born July 26, 1938 in Greenville, Fl. to the late Johnny Rufus Eddins and Mattie Stacey Eddins.
Alvin served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. Alvin was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison. He retired as a supervisor with ITT Thompson Industries after 30 years of employment.
Alvin was preceded in death by both parents, Johnny Rufus Eddins and Mattie Stacey Eddins. He was also preceded in death by his special twin brother, Calvin Eddins; four sisters, Annie Bell Shackelford, Inez Hall, Lizzie Eddins, and Iva Lee Davis; a niece, Martha Crafton, who Alvin helped raise. He is also preceded in death by three other nieces: Jean Brooks, Sarah Malone and Sarah Anderson.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley Sapp Eddins; four sisters: Geneva Massey of Madison, Evelyn Cribbs of Lake City, Johnnie Kinard of Quincy and Dorothy Hubble of Madison. Alvin also helped raise one niece, Linda Roady of Tallahassee. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be held on Thursday, October 22, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Madison with Bro. Greg Ragans officiating and Bro. Brian Phillips assisting. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church or to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Building Fund.
