Betty Louise Brown, a resident of the Lee area, died Sunday, August 23 at Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center.
Born in 1924 in Columbus, Ohio, Betty was a Homemaker and mother of two, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved saltwater fishing, cooking and hunting for yard sale treasures. She was a lifetime member of the NRA and a sharpshooter. Betty enjoyed singing in the choir at Lee First Baptist Church, where she was a member.
She loved good food, watching classic movies and had a smile that was clearly the window to her sweet soul. She loved her Lord and shared that with everyone she met.
Betty was preceded in death by the love of her life, Winford Eley Brown; her daughter, Linda Ilse; her grandson, David Ilse; and two brothers: Ralph Claffey and Russell Claffey.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Bethea (Sonny); her granddaughter, Stephanie Carroll (Bubba); great-grandchildren: Ashton and Lexi Carroll; her sister, Jean Burslem: and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 11 a.m., at Lee First Baptist Church with Pastor Sammy Hiers officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Lee Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Gideons International.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Wednesday, August 26 at Lee First Baptist Church.
