Melvin Lewis Ruttan, age 87, of Cherry Lake went home to be with his Lord Friday, August 28, at Lake Park of Madison Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 31, at Cherry Lake United Methodist Church, with burial at Cherry Lake United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m., at the church.
He was born in Kalkaska County, Michigan on December 31, 1927 to Ward and Marjorie Ruttan. He was a barber and retired from Cecil Field Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. Upon moving to Cherry Lake in January of 1999, he worked part time at Jimmy Roebuck’s Barber Shop.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia “Patty” Ruttan of Cherry Lake; daughter, Ruth R. Dennis (Carl) of Eagle River, Alaska; son, David Ruttan (Sharon) of Jacksonville, Fl.; step-daughters: Jennie LaChance (Bob) of Parrish, Fl. and Karen Callon of Jacksonville, Fl.; step-son, Robb Fishback of Jacksonville, Fl.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Gustke of Port Huron, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Cherry Lake United Methodist Church Building Fund or Big Bend Hospice.
