Mr. Roy Wayne Floyd, 70, of Cherry Lake, Fl. passed away Thursday August 27, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Roy was born July 4, 1945 in Quitman, Ga. to Willard “Dub” and Ruby Floyd. He grew up in Madison, Fl. and was a graduate of Madison High School. He worked as a debit agent for Independent Life Insurance Company and then as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau before moving to Jacksonville, Fl. where he continued to work for Farm Bureau until opening his own State Farm agency. He returned to Madison in 1995, where he enjoyed hunting, reading books and working around his farm. He was a loving and devoted husband and caregiver, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jo Floyd; three daughters: Suzanne Pierce (Dan), of Jacksonville, Fl., Stacy Holman (Eddie), of Madison, and Stephanie Henningsen (John), of Tallahassee; three step-children: Tim Pugh, Teresa Peterson and Scott Williams, all of Jacksonville; two brothers: Donnie Floyd, of Madison and Charlie Floyd, of Cherry Lake: nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Floyd will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 31 in the Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, with Bro. Steve McHargue officiating. Interment will follow in Cherry Lake Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.
