One person was left with minor injuries after two vehicles, traveling westbound on Interstate 10, around mile marker 267, collided on Friday, March 27 at 12:50 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Amber Peach, 19, of Riverview, Fl. was traveling in the inside lane in her 2012 Kia Optima. Scott Parker, 59, of Lake Worth, Fl. was traveling in the outside lane in his 2007 Ford F-350. Peach went to pass a slower vehicle occupying the inside lane by going out and around to the outside lane. She then attempted to cut back in front of the slower vehicle. Parker attempted to avoid collision by swerving onto the north shoulder. The front right side of Peach’s Optima collided with the left rear trailer of Parker’s F-350, sending Peach rotating clockwise across both lanes and onto the north shoulder facing east at final rest. Parker pulled off onto the north shoulder west of the area of collision and came to a final rest facing west. Peach was not injured during the collision but her passenger Jessettie S. Iturrino, 20, of Orlando, Fl., received minor injuries and was transported to Madison County Memorial Hospital. The FHP reports showed that Iturrino was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. Parker was not injured during the collision. Peach was cited for careless driving.
