The Madison County Clerk’s Office will be participating in Operation Green Light on Saturday, April 18. This statewide initiative allows people to pay outstanding traffic fines without the collection agency surcharge associated with the citation, which translates into a 40 percent saving. According to Clerk of Courts Tim Sanders, unpaid traffic tickets result in license suspension with reinstatement only when the fines and fees are paid. He added Operation Green Light is a chance for people to pay their fine without paying the 40 percent collections surcharge and the opportunity to restore their driving privileges. Sanders reported Operation Green Light is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Clerk staff will be available to serve clients over the phone and payments in full will be accepted by credit or debit card. Please call (850) 973-1503. The Clerk stated that he is looking forward to this one time event for citizens to avoid additional fees and get their licenses back. He also reported this is an excellent time for the state and county to recoup funds that support, among other things, courthouse facilities and security, driver’s education, communications, officer training and administrative costs.
