The American Institute of Certified Tax Coaches recently awarded Pam Schoelles, a Madison resident and founder of Schoelles and Associates, Inc., Tax Coach of the Year during their annual reunion and awards banquet held in Sundance, UT.
The award is given to certified tax coaches (CTC) who stood out from peers by providing clients with excellent tax planning guidance and exceptional support within the CTC community.
“It means a lot to receive this recognition from many of the members who I have looked up to over the years. I am grateful to belong to such a supportive group of professionals,” said Schoelles.
Schoelles is an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service as well as a 30-year member of the National Association of Tax Professionals. Her business, Schoelles and Associates, Inc., began in her home in 1975 as a way to earn income without being away from her family.
Schoelles was born in Jacksonville and raised in Madison. She is married to Jack Schoelles, a local building contractor. Together, the couple has two adult daughters. One daughter, Jennifer Williams, is married with two teenage sons. She works as a Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist and is the Dean of Student Affairs for the College of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee. Carin Daniels, the second daughter, is married with a daughter and a son. She works as a registered tax return preparer and accountant at Schoelles and Associates, Inc.
Both daughters worked with their mother throughout high school. Carin has been working full-time at Schoelles and Associates, Inc. for close to twenty years.
Schoelles described the most important aspect of the service provided by Schoelles and Associates, Inc. as, “helping clients realize their business and financial goals by equipping them with the right tools that ultimately provides more time to work on their business. My clients receive a proactive tax plan that covers their business structure, positioning to qualify for tax credits and deductions as well as a step by step implementation guide.”
Her strategies encourage simplicity while providing a peace of mind that allows clients to focus on their other goals.
Certified Tax Coaches (CTC) are professionals including CPAs, attorneys and financial service providers with advance training in proactive tax planning. Unlike traditional tax preparers who crunch numbers in April, CTC’s` specialize in year round strategic planning methods. CTC’s find deductions, credits and strategies resulting in thousands of tax dollars in savings. The CTC objective is to assist clients with retaining more of what they earn by not overpaying their taxes.
According to the United States Government Accountability Office, taxpayers overpay $1 billion per year due to missed tax credit opportunities.
