Deacon Parker B. Joseph departed his earthly life on Saturday, Feb. 29, at Madison Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1928, to Hamp and Mariah Joseph. He was the oldest surviving ancestor of the original Joseph family; a direct descendant of Rev. Horace Joseph.
He grew up in Madison on Rockaway Farm and attended Madison County public schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He relocated to Camden, N.J. in the early 1950's. He was a deacon at Atkins Temple in Camden, N.J. He worked as an orderly at East Jersey Hospital/Camden for 40 years. He also received his Cosmetology license in 1962.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Hamp, Lester, Mack and Albert; sisters: Bessie, Lessie and Tessie. He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Lougretta Joseph. No children were born to this union, however, he leaves a magnitude of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
Funeral services for Deacon Parker B. Joseph will be Saturday, March 7, at 12 noon at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 339 SE Osgood Ave., Madison, Fla. Viewing will be Saturday, March 7, at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, one hour prior to the service.
