Pastor Gary Abbott of the Corinth Christian Church attended the Kiwanis meeting on Thursday, June 4 to discuss their new donation program. Pastor Abbott is a former Madison County resident and has been the pastor at Corinth Christian Church for 17 years. The church opened a thrift store in the old Archie’s building at the corner of U.S. Hwy 90 and County Road 255 a couple of years ago. The church is now planning to open another store in Jasper to reach more people.
To get more donations and prevent usable items from filling up the landfills, the church will have collection bins at all 13 Solid Waste and Recycling locations in Madison. The items donated in the bins will be collected once a week. All good houseware items can be donated, such as clothing, shoes, fabrics, kitchen items, etc. The proceeds from the thrift stores will go to Corinth Christian Academy, which is the school that is run by Corinth Christian Church. Students from Madison, Suwannee and Hamilton attend school there.
