Rev. Jerry Alexander is the senior pastor of Greater Community Baptist Church, which is located at 189 SE President St., in Madison.
Alexander has been a pastor for 14 years. “A strong calling from God,” is what led him into the ministry. “ I enjoy studying, preaching and teaching God’s word,” said Alexander. He further stated that he is motivated to build the Kingdom of God “one block at a time.” His favorite verse of scripture is Matthew 6:33, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Pastor Alexander and his wife Merelda have four grown children.
The church meets at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.
During the school year, the church offers an after-school ministry for the young people. Church members will also be offering a youth bible camp this summer. Alexander and the congregation have a heart to work with at-risk youth.
Throughout the year, the church offers a men’s ministry and a women’s ministry for adults.
