The American Legion and Auxiliary Post #224 is planning a Polar Bear 5K Run and Chili Cook-off to be held in honor of all veterans. The run will be held on Saturday, Jan, 28 at Post #224, in Cherry Lake. The run will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the chili tasting will start at 11 a.m. and continue until 1:30 p.m. This will be the second year for this run. All money raised will be used for the many programs that are sponsored by the American Legion within our community.
If you are a business, civic organization, law enforcement, or just a group of friends, get your team together, along with your best chili recipe and compete for the privilege of being named the best chili in town.
The entry fee is only $10! Cook-off rewards will be given for 1st and 2nd place winners.
Admission for the public is $5.00 for a tasting spoon for unlimited samplings of the various batches of chili.
The Legion is also asking for monetary donations (sponsors) to support this run to offset the costs associated with an initiative like this. There are three levels of sponsorship available ranging from $25 to $100.
