Comedy comes to downtown Madison as the RATT pact presents “Mama Won’t Fly”
at the Main Street Playhouse and Event Center on Thursday, March 17; Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19. A special treat for the Friday performance is a dinner theater featuring Chef Art Smith and reservations are required for the Friday night event. Reservations will not be required for the Thursday and Saturday performances.
Written by comedy trio Jones, Hope and Wooten, the play is a hilarious race against the clock as Savannah Spunt Fairchild Honeycutt attempts to get her mother across country in time for her brother’s wedding. Comedy mishaps ensue when Mama refuses to get on a plane and her bubbly and unlucky daughter-in-law to be arrives unexpectedly to make the trip. Add in a family reunion with an accidental homicide, a mad dash across the dessert in a hijacked big rig, an almost fatal encounter at an underwear museum, a stolen car, a riotous detour to Vegas that ends in a brawl with an ordained showgirl minister and many other surprises!
Several veteran RATT pact performers are joined by newcomers to provide the perfect mix of comedic personalities. Playing daughter Savannah is Darla Carver, Jessica Webb takes the role as Mama Norleen and playing Bride-to-be is Haley Webb. Rounding out the cast are Patrick Loveless, Dawn Renner, Karen Struss, Hank Thompson and Judie Baldwin, who each have multiple roles. Justin Webb directs the show while Tim Dunn handles technical effects and Meagan Barber works backstage.
There is an opening night special for the Thursday, March 18 performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Purchase one ticket for $15 and receive the second ticket for half price. Dinner-and-a-show tickets for Friday, March 19 are $40 and must be reserved in advance. Seating is limited for this date and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m with the show immediately following.
